Order in the Court

Each day we live a thousand deaths if we allow the voice of the enemy to be silenced by the only One Whose Word matters.

For all who fear their death, may this be a little ray of hope...

“Order!”

Knack, knack!

The Man in the judge’s seat silences all within the courtroom.

With just a knock of his gavel, all the voices, all the fears, all the accusations are gone.

It is just He and I alone.

But I am safe. I thought of this moment in fear before, but now I stand before the Judge, and I am not afraid.

He knows the motives of the opponent. He knows my accuser only seeks to lie about me, steal from me, and kill me. This Man before me is not just my Judge; He’s also my Advocate.

All I can hear is my heartbeat and His, and there is no anxiety at all.

Just His gaze alone touches my soul with the gentleness of a strong hand that approaches a flower in all its fragility. And this flower, after taking the blows from the wind of the enemy, begins to unfold under the stillness of this Judge’s merciful gaze. His gaze penetrates past all the waves of fear that have rippled around my mind to the core of my being.

He knows.

He alone knows the truth about me, and it’s not what the enemy says. It’s not even what I think about myself. He sees past all of it to the truth of who I am, and He loves me right there.

I have no guard up, for there is no need to defend myself. The Judge Himself is my Defense.

One word now enters the room, spoken softly, firmly, surely…

“Acquittal.”

And I breathe a sigh of release, letting all the tension go, falling back into the Arms of this Just and Gentle Man who acts both as Judge and Friend;

And I close my eyes and rest.

Scripture for Reflection:

“But with me it is a very small thing that I should be judged by you or any human court; in fact, I do not even judge myself” (1 Corinthians 4:3)

“A thief comes only to steal and slaughter and destroy. I came so that they might have life and have it more abundantly” (John 10:10)

“Humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time. Cast all your worries upon him because he cares for you. Be sober and vigilant. Your opponent the devil is prowling around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him…The God of all grace…will himself restore, confirm, strengthen and establish you after you have suffered a little” (1 Peter 5: 6-10)

“Do not be afraid, little flock, for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom” (Luke 12:32)
